Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Retreat

Nestled in a riverine valley, surrounded by spectacular rock formations and rivers. Bushmans Kloof offers a unique wilderness experience at the foothills of the Cederberg Mountains, 270 km from Cape Town. This 18000 acre wilderness reserve boasts “one of the world’s largest open-air art galleries” with more than 130 ancient San Bushmen rock art sites.

Bushmans Kloof is renowned for its stylish and contemporary country cuisine. The chef specialises in seasonal dishes with a touch of Cape heritage cooking, using organically grown farm produce, and fresh ingredients from the expansive walled vegetable, fruit and herb garden. Guests are invited to the wine cellar to select their wine from an award winning wine list which features top South African wines.

Bushmans Kloof accommodates 32 guests in a luxurious accommodation and is well suited to those who enjoy the beauty of large open areas. All the rooms are individually decorated with private verandahs and beautiful views.

The Wilderness Reserve offers walking, mountain biking, river walks, canoeing and swimming in crystal clear natural rock pools, bird watching, rock art excursions, game viewing and sunset game drives in open 4x4 game vehicles. It is the perfect environment for painting, photography, stargazing, picnics, reading and studying the history of the San and their famous rock art. Wonderful for relaxing and well combined in September for the Namaqualand Flowers and the Whales in Hermanus.

The Spa is an added bonus were guest can receive various treatments. A three-night stay is recommended in order to take in the beauty of the area. Family Packages are run throughout the year.
