Le Telfair
Developed on 15 acres of the former sugar plantation, Bel Ombre – one of Mauritius’s best-kept secrets, and set amongst wonderful tropical gardens, Le Telfair nestles breathtakingly between the dreamy turquoise waters of The Indian Ocean and the lush green slopes of the new championship golf course at the foot of a mountain.
The 158 rooms are accommodated in 20 villas of 6 or 8 rooms, created with a style and architecture reminiscent of colonial times. Ideally located between sea and nature, between the golf course and lagoon, amidst the splendour of tropical gardens, each room offers peace and tranquillity in abundance.
The rooms are fitted with a lounge area, a ceiling fan, controlled air conditioning, safe, Satellite TV and minibar as well as a spacious en suite bathroom. The suites also offer a DVD/CD player and a large selection of the latest films.
The main restaurant is designed on four floors and affords stunning views of the sea, mountains and river. Guests can select from a range of cosmopolitan specialities or create original dishes they might like to try after a discussion with the executive chef. The search for the best combination of wine and dish from the extensively stocked cellar will often lead to informal tasting sessions in the show kitchen.
The seafood restaurant is situated on the powdery white sand of the beach. Guests are welcome to inspect the fresh catches at the jetty and discuss how they would like their meals prepared with the chef.
The beach restaurant, located between beach and pool, offers light Mediterranean style cuisine, influenced by the flavours of open wood fired cooking.
After dinner, guests can gather in comfortable armchairs for a night cap and cigar in the main bar and lounge whilst relaxing to the sounds of a live band performing on the stage overlooking the river. An open air dance floor invites a more lively close to the evening.
As well as offering extensive dry and water sports facilities, guests can also take advantage of numerous organised excursions, the 18 hole championship golf course and the Six Senses spa village.
