Denis Island is evocatively named after the French explorer Denis de Trobriant who sighted the island in 1773. It is likely that Arab traders, who sailed in the Indian Ocean since the 9th century, probably knew of the island earlier, as did the pirates who haunted the area in the 17th and 18th century.
A combination of stunning beauty, the simplicity of true island living and the natural elegance of a lodge perched in splendid isolation at the very edge of the Seychelles bank makes Denis Island one of the naturally most romantic niches on Earth.
25 elegant cottages offer an authentic private island experience. Each nestles amidst lush tropical gardens near the shore. Comfort and a natural Creole flair go hand in hand to present a memorable stay.
The Charming restaurant and bar extend the same relaxed island style. Fresh seafood, exotic salads and a wealth of fantastic entrees and desserts are served. Barbeque nights are a highlight, as are al fresco candlelit dinners, the location of which can be chosen by the guest.
Denis island offers a wide choice of indoor and outdoor sports. The resort has a professional PADI accredited on-site dive centre, as well as two state of the art deep sea fishing boats, a tennis court and a full sixe snooker table.
