August Family Holidays

With the summer school holidays fast approaching parents are tirelessly searching for the elusive bargain luxury holidays or family breaks in the UK.
Recent reports have revealed that family holidays in August are often inflated by up to 85% more than previous months. For example a holiday in the Algarve for a family of four in July would cost £2000 in comparison to the exact same holiday in August costing £3800. The price is almost doubled. The situation is the similar in the UK as a family holiday to Wales in July would cost £399 rising to £698 in August, an increase of 75%.
As a result there has been an increase of parents taking their children out of school in term time. Over 49%, when asked, admitted to doing this due to extortionate prices offered by the travel companies. In response Local Authorities have introduced a fine system in an attempt to prevent unlawful school absences. If the travel industry wants to bounce back from the recent recession perhaps they need to rethink family holiday prices in order to increase bookings.
