Stars Head to the Maldives to Promote Water Conservation
13.05.2011

A whole host of stars, be they singers, actors and actresses or world-renowned surfers, are heading to the Six Senses Laamu resort, one of the resorts at which we offer luxury holidays in Maldives.

The reason for this gathering of celebrities is a long weekend of events dedicated to discussing the problems facing the world’s oceans and raising awareness for water conservation, be it marine, coastal or inland waters that need protecting. The profits from this event will be split between a number of charities dedicated to protecting our planet’s waters.  Gourmet food will be served and numerous opportunities will be presented for guests to try their hand at a plethora of water sports.

It’s not just celebrities that will be in attendance though. Aquatic film makers, biologists and oceanographers from around the world will be present as well, allowing for some of those best equipped to discuss and deal with the issues facing our water to meet and discuss the issues in an area where any change will have a swift and immediate impact; rising sea levels, changing water temperatures and dying coral reefs would have drastic effects on the islands that make up Maldives.

The Laamu resort is a perfect place to hold this conference. Not only is Maldives so dependent on the ocean that surrounds the islands for food and attracting tourists, but the resort itself has been designed and built in a way that has as little impact on the environment as possible.
